# Mozilla Firefox

Open-source browser on its own engine, with Total Cookie Protection, encrypted sync and a built-in browser VPN.

80 points out of 100. #2 of 12 web browsers. Vendor: Mozilla. Website: https://www.firefox.com/

- Sync data is encrypted on Mozilla's servers so Mozilla cannot read it; sync needs a free Mozilla account [5].
- Firefox blocks known trackers, with Total Cookie Protection keeping each site's cookies separate [3].
- The built-in browser VPN is a proxy, free for up to 50 GB a month [6].
- Mozilla says Firefox keeps Manifest V2 alongside V3, including the blocking webRequest API [16].
- Downloads exist for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android [12].

Verdict: Firefox suits people who want privacy features in the browser itself: tracker and fingerprint blocking, a free-tier browser VPN and sync Mozilla cannot read [3][4][5][6]. Its code is open source and Mozilla says it keeps Manifest V2 support [13][16]. The catch: Firefox's pages do not mention passkeys or Chrome Web Store installs, and a past Bugzilla breach is on record [10][11][18]. Best for: People who want open-source code, tracker blocking and sync that Mozilla cannot read.
