--- title: Sync.com canonical: https://saasranked.com/software/sync-com/ category: Cloud Storage Services points: 55 rank: 7 of 10 facts_checked: 2026-10-08 --- # Sync.com Zero-knowledge cloud storage with a 5 GB free plan, files on demand for Windows and no family plan. 55 points out of 100. #7 of 10 cloud storage services. Vendor: Sync.com. Website: https://www.sync.com/ - The free plan gives 5 GB for one user, with 30 days of version and deleted-file history [2]. - Personal 1 TB lists at $12 a month on yearly billing, with a 50% discount in the first year only [1]. - Personal Unlimited keeps file versions and deleted files for 365 days [1]. - Every individual plan has one user; there is no family plan [1]. - Sync says data is always end-to-end encrypted, with keys only you hold [6]. Verdict: Sync.com suits one person who wants private storage with files on demand and selective sync on Windows [1][4]. The paid plans keep history for 90 to 365 days and let you password-protect links [1]. The catch is the price: the first-year discount ends and 1 TB renews at $12 a month, and there is no family plan or lifetime option [1]. Best for: People who want private storage for one account and a long deleted-file history. ## Points | Criterion | Line | Value | Points | Note | |---|---|---|---|---| | Security and audits | End-to-end encryption | default | 10/10 | Sync says data is always end-to-end encrypted with keys only you hold, and lists zero-knowledge encryption [3][6]. | | Security and audits | Independent security test since 2024 | Not published | 0/6 | Not published on the vendor's security page, trust centre or SOC page [3][5][8]. | | Security and audits | SOC 2 Type II or ISO 27001 | Yes | 5/5 | Trust centre lists SOC 2 Type 2 and SOC 3 [5]; the pricing page says SOC 2 Type 1 [1]. | | Security and audits | Open-source apps | Not published | 0/3 | Not found on the vendor's pages [3][4]. | | Security and audits | Security key for two-factor sign-in | Not published | 0/4 | Individual plans list two-factor authentication but no security keys [1][3]. | | Security and audits | Public bug bounty | Not published | 0/3 | Not published on the vendor's security page or trust centre [3][5]. | | Apps and sync | Apps | Windows, macOS, iOS, Android | 8/10 | Windows, macOS, iOS and Android apps; Linux only through WebDAV, not a native app [4]. | | Apps and sync | Files on demand in Windows | Yes | 6/6 | Every paid plan lists CloudFiles: "Save space on your computer with files-on-demand" [1]; Windows app is stable [4]. | | Apps and sync | Choose which folders sync | Yes | 4/4 | Every paid plan lets you define which folders in the Sync folder download to each computer [1]. | | Recovery and sharing | File version and deleted-file history | 365 | 6/6 | Personal Unlimited keeps previous versions and deleted files for 365 days [1]. | | Recovery and sharing | Restore the whole account | Not published | 0/4 | Not listed in the individual plan table or on the features page [1][7]. | | Recovery and sharing | Password-protected share links | Yes | 4/4 | All three individual plans list password-protected sharing; the free plan allows 3 password-protected links [1][2]. | | Recovery and sharing | Edit documents in the browser | Yes | 4/4 | Individual plans list Office 365 support to open, edit and save documents in a browser; needs an Office licence [1][7]. | | Recovery and sharing | Plan for five or more people | No | 0/4 | Each individual plan lists one user and no family plan appears [1]. | | Price and plans | Free plan with 5 GB or more | Yes | 5/5 | Free plan with 5 GB of storage and one user [2]. | | Price and plans | Cheapest paid plan with 100 GB or more | $12/mo | 0/8 | Personal 1 TB, regular $12 a month on yearly billing; first year is half price [1]. | | Price and plans | Cheapest paid plan with 1 TB or more | $12/mo | 0/8 | Personal 1 TB is the cheapest paid plan, regular $12 a month on yearly billing [1]. | | Price and plans | One-time lifetime plan | No | 0/3 | The individual pricing page lists no one-time lifetime plan [1]. | | Price and plans | Refund period of 14 days or more | Yes | 3/3 | The pricing page promises a full 30-day money-back guarantee [1]. | ## Plans | Plan | Price | Per month (USD) | |---|---|---| | Free | Free [2] | $0 | | Personal 1 TB | $144/year regular ($72 first year) [1] | $12 | | Solo 5 TB | $336/year regular ($168 first year) [1] | $28 | | Personal Unlimited | $540/year regular ($270 first year) [1] | $45 | Yearly prices are shown as monthly equivalents.
