Independent evaluations, not scored

Since 10 October 2026 the G2 AI CX evaluation line earns up to 20 points, from G2's General CX leaderboard: the test G2 runs itself on the same 46 tasks for every agent, with one point here for every 10 G2 points. Until that date this ranking scored no test results. The weight was set as a dated rules version that treats every product by the same rule: results G2 runs itself count, results run by G2's partners (Swept) do not, and bots without a published result earn 0. The other lines were rebalanced the same day to keep the total at 100, and the scope widened: a live chat or inbox suite now counts when it ships a bot builder you set up yourself, which is how Tidio entered; finished AI agents you cannot steer and help desks stay out.

G2's General CX leaderboard (g2.com/categories/ai-agents/agent-evaluations; all companies, general sample) evaluated 9 agents, ranked on points: Tidio 200 (87% accuracy, 92% policy compliance), Retell 200 (86%, 90%), LiveAgent 195 (87%, 86%), Chipp 185 (82%, 86%), BoldDesk 180 (88%, 79%), Zoho 145 (64%, 66%), Jotform 140 (82%, 56%), Freshworks 105 (72%, 70%) and HubSpot Breeze Customer Agent 95 (69%, 67%). G2 lists Zendesk, Gorgias, Forethought and Yuma as under evaluation and Decagon as having declined. Read 9 October 2026.

Coverage: of the chatbot builders ranked here, only Tidio's Lyro appears on G2's leaderboard. The other builders earn 0 on this line until G2 evaluates them; the lab file is the only place to update. G2's Customer Experience evaluation (ai.g2.com) is a separate view where several scores are partner benchmarks run by Swept, and it earns no points here.

Each chatbot builder in brief

1. Tidio

Tidio fits a small team that wants bots and one inbox together: the Flow builder is free to start, Lyro learns from your own pages and hands hard questions to a person. The catch: the OpenAPI endpoints wait for the Plus plan, from $300 a month.

Best for: Small teams that want a no-code bot, an AI agent and one inbox. Prices, facts and sources

2. Botpress

Botpress suits teams that want a drag-and-drop builder, knowledge from their own website and files, and an HTTP Chat API. The free plan is capped at 100 conversations, and the first plan with 1,000 or more conversations is Team at $750 a month. Voice is listed only on the quote-only Enterprise plan.

Best for: Teams that want a visual builder with an HTTP API and many channels. Prices, facts and sources

3. Typebot

Typebot suits builders who want a visual canvas, a documented chat API and low entry prices. Starter at $39 a month covers 2,000 chats and removes branding. The catch: it has no built-in inbox or knowledge base, channels are limited to web and WhatsApp, and the code is source-available rather than open source.

Best for: Developers and small teams who want a low-cost, flexible flow builder. Prices, facts and sources

4. Microsoft Copilot Studio

Copilot Studio suits organisations that already run Microsoft 365 and Azure, want a visual topic builder, and need Teams, web, WhatsApp or phone channels. A $200 monthly pack of 25,000 credits sits far above the 1,000-credit bar, but credits are a different unit from conversations. No free plan is listed to publish on, and Instagram is not named as a channel.

Best for: Organisations already on Microsoft 365 and Azure. Prices, facts and sources

5. Chatling

Chatling suits small teams that want a low-priced bot with a free plan, a visual flow builder and handoff to a person. Starter covers the API and analytics for $21 a month on yearly billing. The catch: its home and pricing pages name no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 report, and routing of handed-off chats starts at Growth.

Best for: Small teams that want a low-priced bot with a flow builder, human handoff and a free plan to start. Prices, facts and sources

6. Landbot

Landbot suits small teams that want to lay out a bot on a visual canvas and pass chats to people in a shared inbox. The AI agent answers from your files and web pages. The catch is cost: branding removal, the API and WhatsApp all sit on the $88 Professional tier or above, and Starter is capped at 500 chats.

Best for: Small teams that want a visual flow builder with a shared inbox. Prices, facts and sources

7. SiteGPT

SiteGPT suits small sites that want a bot trained on their own pages, files and apps, with an API, handoff and a SOC 2 Type II report. Starter is $39 a month on yearly billing for 4,000 mini-model messages. The catch: no free plan, no flow builder, no live data lookups, and API access, chat integrations and analytics trends start at Growth.

Best for: Small sites that want a bot answering from their own content, with Slack, Messenger or WhatsApp on top. Prices, facts and sources

8. Chatbase

Chatbase suits teams that want an agent trained on their own site and files, with WhatsApp, Instagram and phone channels and a human takeover inbox. The price for 1,000 credits starts at $120 a month billed yearly ($150 monthly), and badge removal costs another $99 a month. The catch: setup is written instructions and settings, not a visual flow canvas.

Best for: Small teams that want an agent trained on their own content and a built-in inbox for human takeover. Prices, facts and sources

9. Voiceflow

Voiceflow suits teams that want a visual builder with a knowledge base, API steps and handoff to contact-centre tools, on web chat, WhatsApp and phone. Plan prices are not public, so you cannot compare cost without contacting sales. The catch: the Free plan is a one-time credit grant that the docs call unsuitable for production.

Best for: Teams that want to design chat and phone agents visually and connect them to a contact-centre or help desk tool. Prices, facts and sources

10. CustomGPT.ai

CustomGPT.ai suits teams that want a bot answering from their own sites and documents, with an API and a SOC 2 report. Standard covers 1,000 queries a month for $89 on yearly billing. The catch: no free plan, no visual flow builder described, no described human handoff, and branding removal starts at $449 a month.

Best for: Teams that want a chatbot trained on their own content and are fine with a paid plan from day one. Prices, facts and sources

11. Chatfuel

Chatfuel suits businesses that sell in WhatsApp and Instagram chats and want a bot that answers from a knowledge base, with live chat for staff. Every plan includes every feature and unlimited contacts. The catch: AI usage is metered in dollars, not conversations, so cost at 1,000 chats is not published, and the closed website widget always shows the Chatfuel icon.

Best for: Small businesses and agencies that sell through WhatsApp and Instagram messages. Prices, facts and sources

12. Google Conversational Agents (Dialogflow CX)

Dialogflow CX suits teams on Google Cloud that want a visual flow builder, webhooks and a documented API. Billing is per request, with no plan that includes a set number of conversations. Its Messenger and Slack integrations are in preview, and handoff to a person is only a signal to your own system.

Best for: Teams already on Google Cloud that want deterministic flows and an API. Prices, facts and sources

Head to head

We read each vendor's own pages and the latest G2 results, record every fact with its source and date, and score it by the rules on how we score chatbot builders. A tie goes to the lower price. Tools you set up yourself to build website or messaging chatbots, for small teams and businesses. Finished AI agents you cannot steer and help desks are left out; a live chat or inbox suite counts when it ships a bot builder you set up yourself. Browser-based tools. Plan lines count the plans on the vendor's public pricing page; a quote-only plan counts only where a line says so. Vendor claims about speed or quality are shown on product pages but never scored. Prices are in US dollars before tax.
